Water water water

Our bodies need enough water to stay healthy. An adult should therefore drink at least one liter of water a day. Cucumbers contain a lot of water and provide a lot of the liquid to the body when consumed. This is also the reason why slices of cucumber are so beneficial on the eyes. Cold cucumbers in particular relieve tired and dry eyes. The juice of the cucumber provides the skin with moisture, the colder reduces puffiness and soothes. The pores of the skin close, puffiness and dark circles under the eyes decrease. “In addition to water, cucumbers contain other ingredients that reduce irritation and redness. Before experimenting with creams, it is definitely worth trying out cucumber slices first, ”confirms Dr. Manuel Haider. “In addition, the closed eyelids give the eyes a well-deserved break from too much screen time.”

Sage and chamomile tea – better not

Be careful with sage or chamomile tea. Especially with infectious inflammations such as conjunctivitis, they cause great damage through the bacteria in the tea infusion and the fine hairs of the plant (chamomile tea). “If you are unsure whether your eyes are just stressed or already inflamed, you should definitely make an appointment for a clarification so that an adequate treatment takes place and there is no permanent damage,” says Dr. Magdalena Gabert. In addition, all of these home remedies only have a short-term effect and are no substitute for a balanced lifestyle. Anyone who has persistent complaints should definitely have them clarified by an ophthalmologist.
